According to the results of a eye-opening new study conducted by researchers in Denmark, pregnant women who have fevers during pregnancy for the duration of five days to a week (the length of the typical flu bug), have at least double the chance of giving birth to an autistic child.

Rates of autism have been increasing in recent years and baffling health experts. According to the latest data, one in every 88 children is born with some form of autism. (I happen to have a dear friend who has three autistic daughters.)

While more research is needed and this is by no means the last word on this subject, health experts recommend that pregnant women get the flu shot (not the nasal mist) to protect themselves--and their babies.
