The Student Union Gallery will kick off the fall semester with ?Hard Cheese,? an exhibition by Will Eichelberger and Sector 17, July 25-Sept. 3.?
Hard cheese is a slang term for an unpleasant, difficult or adverse situation. This exhibition is intended to present viewers with rare insight into the processes by which artists emerging from the skateboard/graffiti world cultivate their skills amidst many obstacles including negative public perceptions.
Utilizing innovative photography techniques and graffiti-based styles, the installation created by Boise State alumnus Will Eichelberger and the artists of Boise-based Sector Seventeen present an enlightening opportunity.
Demonstrations and artist presentations will be held from 2:15-4:15 p.m. Aug. 30 on the Student Union Patio, followed by a closing reception from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
The exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public; light refreshments will be provided at all receptions.

They often draw more than 5,000 visitors. The galleries also partner a good deal with other local arts organizations, businesses, artists and nonprofits, and serve as a bridge to the wider community for Boise State?s 700-plus art majors.
Most of the art on display in the gallery spaces is for sale, and the Student Union Fine Arts program receives a 20 percent commission on any work sold to assist the Student Union in purchasing other work for the building?s permanent collection.
All campus exhibitions and gallery receptions are free and open to the public.
